Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November each year in the United States. Thanksgiving has historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, but it has also long been celebrated as a secular holiday. This year Thanksgiving fell on November 26.
It is common to spend time with family and relatives while eating delicious food at home. Many people take vacations during this time, and it has a similar feel as spending New Year’s in Japan.
Thanksgiving’s classic menu consists of whole roasted turkey that is served with cranberry sauce or gravy. There are also other mouthwatering dishes such as prime rib, mashed potatoes, ham, corn, pumpkin pie, and others depending on the region and family.
Be sure to check out hotels and restaurants as they offer special menus for Thanksgiving Day that can only be enjoyed once a year during this time.
Hawaii and rest of the states in the mainland is now completely in holiday season mode. The city and stores usually start decorating with Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations from mid-November, and will be even livelier as we get closer to the end of the year!
Happy Holiday!
